People of every nation are special in their own way. Ukrainians, for example, are very generous and good-hearted people. Russians are open. And Romani, as I imagine you already know, are very emotional and rather unique. From April 30 to May 6 we had the opportunity to serve the Romani. We went to Russia to the town of L'gov, where Viktor Saltykov is pastor of the local church.

The touching story of Rachel Beckwith and her last wish inspired thousands of people to contribute to charity. For her nineth birthday she didn't ask for toys, dolls, a new dress or a pair of shoes. Instead the girl from Seattle wanted her family and friends to give the money to Charity Water, an organization that helps people in developing countries to survive when there isn't sufficient drinking water. She wanted to raise 300 dollars to save 15 people who needed water...

In advance of Mothers' Day, May 13, the youth of the SMS Club launched a public discussion of a topic that is current and painful for our society: abortion. It appears that the participants in the demonstration titled "God Gave Me Life" really succeeded in getting the point across to the residents of our city.

Salvation Church spent Victory Day in the fresh air in the company of close friends. Why close? Because all of the picnickers had to squeeze together due to the small mats. A rough estimate puts the number of picnickers at 130. By way of comparison, the congregation on Sunday mornings is only a little larger.

In order to motivate students, Harvard University used the slogan "The pain of studying is only temporary. But the pain of ignorance is forever". It's hard not to agree with that. Some certainly, have already started to experience the unpleasant consequences of their own lack of competence in some area or other. At the moment that others discover gaps in knowledge attested to by diplomas, the shame literally makes us want to run or hide. And at that point some start to learn: at a mature age they go back to the ABCs of their specialty, they start to catch up in the areas where they didn't see fit to expend the required effort to learn.

Not long ago Salvation Church had the honor of greeting guests, no, excuse me, family, from far off America. During these visits we enjoy not only fellowship and time spent together, but also active participation in our work in the fields of Poltava which are "white unto harvest". Incidentally, for those who do not know, the mutual assistance and cooperation with our sister church (hence the family relationship) began in 1992. That's when John Bixby, representative of the American delegation, became one of the first to visit us.

Dear Friend, in the name of the web team we wish you the best on this glorious Day of the Resurrection of Christ! This event became the pivot point in the history of humanity. The death of Jesus gave birth to hope and opened the way for ordinary sinful people to approach the inapproachable Holy God. We want to understand, appreciate and accept the depth of the meaning of the resurrection of Christ in our own lives. Let's not limit the celebration of this amazing Day to traditional rituals, but let it be the cause of sincere gratitude and deep joy in our hearts.

The universal Ukrainian rituals of bathing and cleaning house on the Thursday before Easter have become integral mystical rites of the majority Orthodox population of our country. This is the day when even those who want nothing to do with religion rigorously use artesian water for their hygiene needs. And as it happened Salvation Church was also involved in this national "wave of cleanliness." More accurately, we started a week before "Clean Thursday." We declared a cleanup action, not motivated by religious considerations, but ordinary necessity ...
