Every year at the beginning of March my friends and I go to the sauna put on an evening for the youth dedicated to International Women's Day. Some people think that International Women's Day is too political, or even commumist or feminist, but not the youth at Salvation Church.
For us February 23 and March 8 are a chance to remind youth how valuable we are to one another. Thus we have a youth meeting every year to celebrate the day. In fact, these meetings continue to break records for the best attendance. This time there were about fifty of us. Furthermore not everyone was there, and that from a church with 170 members.
The evening itself was simple and very amicable. At this point it's worth mentioning that before this year we had continually "raised the bar", meaning that the themes had gotten progressively more complex and ambitious: adventure games, excursions in town, a concert on the roof of the Christian Center, a masquerade ball... As brother Alexander Sergeyevich Verhovsky (aka Pushkin) said "All that's left is an airshow". So this year we lowered the bar a little, and even though there was a program (trivia, songs, a skit and a video that made us laugh until we cried), the main attraction was conversation around the table.
At the end of the meeting we read the Word and prayed that since we are living in freedom we would not seek compromises, avoid sin and cling to God.
In general, God gave us a wonderful evening together, filling the atmosphere with His presence and love. We believe that there will be even more of us next year.
