The World Through the Eyes of the SMS Club |
In order to motivate students, Harvard University used the slogan "The pain of studying is only temporary. But the pain of ignorance is forever". It's hard not to agree with that. Some certainly, have already started to experience the unpleasant consequences of their own lack of competence in some area or other. At the moment that others discover gaps in knowledge attested to by diplomas, the shame literally makes us want to run or hide. And at that point some start to learn: at a mature age they go back to the ABCs of their specialty, they start to catch up in the areas where they didn't see fit to expend the required effort to learn.
The Easter meeting of the SMS Club was a demonstration of the religious education of contemporary Ukrainians, and of all those who call themselves Christians. In an improvised newscast we related all types of customs and rituals of different people that supposedly relate to the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, but unfortunately have nothing to do with it. The word "gap" doesn't do justice to the universal ignorance on this topic. More likely than not this is the complete absence of any conception of the real meaning of this holiday. Even a casual street survey of ordinary citizens reveals that the word Christian doesn't apply to our society. |
