Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him! Psalm 147:1

Everyone who has trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ has the desire in his heart to praise and magnify God. This is the inner nature of a regenerated spirit. From time to time we hear that one church or another has had an evening of praise and worship. People come together with one goal: to praise God. These evenings are usually organized by teenagers or adults, but this time it was children who came together for worship. It was also unusual that this time it was not children from only Salvation church who met, but also from other churches in the city of Poltava: Hope Church, Born Again Church and The Lord's Cross Church.

 

The children took the meeting very seriously and prepared themselves beforehand. Each church had the opportunity to prepare their program: singing, prayer, reading verses, playing instruments and even preaching.

The idea for this service was suggested by Vladimir Goliuk, who was the leader of the service and helped the children to focus better on God. The slogan for the meeting was "Sing to our God", and there was also a verse for everyone to learn: "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

And now for the details: the children from Hope Church were up first. Their specialty was playing musical instruments: bandura (traditional Ukrainian stringed instrument), flute and piano, which attested to the desire of the parents of that church to develop artistic skills for praising God in their children. Next came the performance of the children of The Lord's Cross Church. The children sang and performed a skit, and their special contribution was the dramatic reading of the resurrection of Christ. Born Again Church presented a junior-high choir and their unique contribution was two young preachers. The children of Salvation Church were the last to perform. Colorful costumes brightened the event and emphasized the joy of the occasion. They offered a prayer and a song for Ukraine, which is very appropriate for this time in our country.

At the end of the performance there was an exhibition of the children's artwork where we saw beautiful drawings and paintings that expressed the children's desire to praise God.

In conclusion we can say that we should have this type of event on a regular basis. By teaching children to worship God we adults are building the present and future church. This type of service also unites churches into one common service to God and encourages all of us to develop children's ministry in our churches.
