The SMS Club continues its intensive work with the youth of Poltava. The purpose of the club is to change the world, and as globel as that may sound, the world around us has indeed changed a little. So, for your consideration we present another project that we call "ON AIR".

 

 

"ON AIR" is an evening of conversation for youth with the goal of providing a detailed explanation of the foundational topics of Christian doctrine. It is different from other topic-oriented SMS Club evenings in that the topic is developed in small group discussions instead of in the "message" of the evening. This meeting format is amenable to a question-and-answer approach, gives the opportunity to listen to the opinions of others, and above all it gives everyone a chance to talk! At these meetings, as with all SMS Club meetings, the young people have a good time listening to music and enjoying tea and conversation.

The idea for the discussion format came up in the summer of last year when the Lord began to provide some fruit from our work - that the young people were showing interest in talking and learning more about God, the Bible, prayer, morality, Christian history and Christianity in general... We see this as nothing other than getting closer to our goal, since through their interest in these things they are really expressing interest in changing their lives.

At this point SMS Club has had seven "ON AIR" evenings:
"Christian Walk"
"The Bible"
"Who is God?"
"The Biggest Human Problem (SIN)"
"Who is Jesus Christ"
"What's Special about Grace?"
"What Does It Mean to Be Born from Above?"

The most recent "ON AIR" was held on March 11, 2014, on the topic "What Does It Mean to Be Born from Above?" We read the Bible text (John 3:1-21) that describes the meeting and conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus. This text touches a very important question concerning spiritual rebirth, starting with verse 3: Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born from above he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Our discussion centered on four important questions that each of us must be able to answer:
1. What does it mean to be born from above?
2. Why does a person need to be born from above?
3. How is a person born from above?
4. When can a person be born from above?

At the end of the group discussion time we invited the young people to entrust their lives to God, Who can give new and abundant meaning to life: new birth.

The "ON AIR" meetings are not a replacement for the regular monthly SMS Club meetings. These discussion meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month.
