In the opinion of members of the SMS team, the club is getting more provocative. The topics that we choose for discussion are, shall we say, are getting more socially divisive.

 

For example, at our second most recent meeting we addressed the topic of destructive sects and cults, helping people to reach a proper understanding of these concepts. Incidentally, that evening turned out great, and we believe it was useful to all those present, because, unfortunately, the ordinary resident of Poltava has little awareness in the field of religious studies. The man responsible for the biblical education in Poltava churches of the All Ukraine Baptist Union, Sergey Zakharchuk, held an interesting talk to help young people understand what a cult is, how to relate to cult members, and how to avoid crazy groups and scams in your search for truth.

At our most recent meeting we talked about livestock or, in other words - cattle. The senior regional pastor, Oleg Ovsy, suggested a very interesting approach to the subject during his talk. He read passages from the Bible in which people are compared with cattle. There are at least four such instances: ox, dog, pig and foal. Together we tried to answer the question of how to be a man, and not an animal. We came to the conclusion that if we do not want to be like cattle, we must make room for the Spirit of God in our lives, because only He can restore in man the image of God, to which man was created.

Next month we will have a movie night and go on a picnic, thus closing the season for the next two months. And in September we will return with renewed strength to proclaim the Good News to the youth of our city!
