Since ancient times the custom of the Slavic peoples has been to place the cross on the dome of the church to crown the whole structure, completing its form and pointing the whole construction toward the heavens. For a long time now residents of the Levada neighborhood have been wrestling with the question of the purpose of the building with the mysterious name "CMC" at Prospect Mir 24.

At last the rapidly unfolding events of the first week of March put an end to all the guessing. The highest point of the building was finally covered with a dome and a cross, proclaiming the Christian purpose of the building!

This significant event had been in preparation since the fall of 2012. For a long time the weather did not allow us to complete the construction of the dome or the installation on the roof. And then, finally, on March 7 at 12:30 Moscow time the dome, weighing 1.5 tons, was successfully placed at the top of the tower! The installation was accompanied by prayerful exclamations from members of Salvation Church, exclamations that were carried up to heaven by spring wind gusts. Because of this same wind the dome had to be restrained with ropes until it reached its destination!

At noon the next day, as the people in the surrounding blocks of flats were preparing their meals to celebrate International Women's Day, March 8, the cross was placed on the dome, thus setting the record straight on the questions about what is at the center of the lives of people who call themselves Christians.

The Apostle Paul wrote in one of his letters: "I do not want to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world ...". May the cross, hoisted onto the dome of the Christian Ministry Center of Salvation Church, be not just an architectural ornament, but also a reminder to us all of the great price paid by Christ for our salvation, and also of our calling to follow the Lord, "taking up our cross ... " and serving God and our neighbors!
