Salvation Church recently celebrated thanksgiving for the harvest. Although there is no direct evidence in the New Testament that a thanksgiving as such was celebrated, still it is always appropriate to thank God for physical and spiritual blessings. The message that we heard from the preachers, the singers and the recitations of children reminded all those at the service of the countless blessings that we continually receive from God, and of the need for fruit in our earthly lives, for which we will have to give account before the Creator.

After the sermon and prayers of thanksgiving, the church followed its established tradition, gathering together for a holiday dinner and socializing, something we don't often have enough time for. The meal was lovingly prepared, very tasty and especially welcome given the appetite we worked up during the service.

It remains to make a small conclusion: the mercy of God to every person on earth is enormous. We must never forget this, and joyfully and wisely use every physical and spiritual blessing, even those that seem small.
