On Tuesday, the 30th of August, a new sport was introduced to Poltava - Ultimate Frisbee. The young people who gathered on the square beside the Gogol Theater had the opportunity to practice and take part in a fascinating game. The goal of the meeting was to invite them to a frisbee tournament, where they would also be able to hear, in a comfortable setting, the preaching of the Word of God.

There was a friendly atmosphere at the meeting. No one was trying to show off. Everyone simply played from the heart, which was in itself was the work of God. Passersby, busy with their errands, stopped and watched the activities with interest. And there was certainly something to watch! The contests, and of course, the game itself captured everyone's attention. People of all ages (even tots in strollers under the watchful gaze of their parents) followed the activity with interest. There were 14 teams of 5 members each who played a total of 14 captivating games. The reward was enjoyed by all: cheerful attitudes, team spirit and the great fun of the game itself.

On the following Tuesday, the 6th of September, there was an Ultimate Frisbee tournament, where the young people in attendance also heard the Gospel of Jesus the Savior. It is likely that for many of the attendees this was one of the few opportunities they had to hear of the mercy and goodness of our Savior. For this reason we ask that you pray that the Word of God would find a response in the hearts of the unbelievers. The next "Frisbee Date" came on the 13th of September. This is the day when God blessed us with the first chance to conduct "Frisbee Training" for everyone who wanted to improve their skills.

I will let you in on a little secret: it wasn't just the newcomers who wanted to develop their skills; the organizers wanted to learn, too. The sport was more an enjoyable pastime than a real professional game for them, as well. We were all on our own. Where could we find professionals???

Here, too, God was with us. Literally on the day before our first training event, we miraculously found an actual professional team in Kharkov. The team of 5 came by car on their own initiative to Poltava to conduct the "Frisbee Training". The Kharkov team readily admitted that they wanted to work with the new Poltava team and train them to the point where they would be worthy competitors.

In all of these miraculously arranged circumstances we see God's hand. The sport is not the final goal of our work. It is only the means to demonstrate the perfection of our God to those who don't know him yet. Now the sphere of our influence has expanded to the east and touched the hearts of the team from Kharkov. We ask you, dear readers, to join us in our prayer for God's work in the sports ministry of our church. And we in turn trust the Lord who said, "Go and preach", and we believe in the efficacy of our joint prayers.
